you used to be the reason, for my smile.you still are.

i'm glad today's weather has been a little better, but i realise im missing the sun rays.
i used to hate hot weathers, but looking at how wet weathers too cause misery to the million other people out there, i find myself praying for a better weather in the days to come.

was watching the oprah winfrey show this afternn, and as usual, i find myself tearing throughout the episode. today's episode was with regards to the case of child trafficking in Ghana. im sure we are all not new to such news of how young children are subjected to severe abuse in the third world countries. each time we watch the shows, or read articles on such news, we cringe, we feel sad, and we shed a tear. but after that, we all slip back to the world we are so comfortable with- gaining comfort from the fact that 'there is nothing we can do as a single person other than to pray for these kids'. which is probably true, but sad. im not dismissing the powers of our prayers, i'm just sad that we cant follow up our prayers with concrete actions that can be done to save these kids. i am, as much as the next person, at a complete loss as to how we can do something that can create an impact. but how about the ones in power? let's just say, if a legal system cannot create improvements, then there must be something seriously wrong with it.

i guess news/infotainment programmes should not just stop at the level of creating awareness for the world regarding such tragic happenings. i believe it would be best if these news can create an awareness strong enough to provoke action from viewers. only then would the situation start to improve. i would like to carry on the sentiment of the Winfrey correspondent, 'there is hope for a better tommorrow', and indeed i believe so. the fact that one child can be saved shows that there is always a possibility that such tragic fate can be avoided. it's a utopian vision to expect equality in world. but cant we at least strive towards it?
