Pentas Budaya finally took place yesterday.truthfully speaking, i never believed the event can be executed. all the way to the final minutes, everything seemed to be going against our tide. ticket sales didnt seem bright initially. and i felt guilty for it. poor ticket sales would mean that there would be lesser revenue. poor ticket sales would falter the esteem and the morale of our performers, who had been practicing so hard for this. But alas, I'm glad, and I'm totally thankful to Him for giving us His blessings and allowing Pentas Budaya to be a resounding success. After organising 4 events, I realised that the greatest satisfaction is when you see the target audience enjoying themselves, feeling entertained by the fruits of your team's labour. people were clearly entertained, what not with Mat as the professional emcee.things i learnt after organising 4 events in NUS:1. everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. (self-explanatory)2. communication is extremely important.- most of the time, having leaders shouting at you does not help. especially if it happens in front of tourists, and a whole group of external people.3. quiet people can be loud when they are stress-laden.4. expect the weirdest of all things to happen at the most crucial moment.examples:- a cool looking young teen comes up to you and says that he was robbed by 3 men just metres from where you were standing.-someone gets tickets for seats that did not exist.- you escort someone into the VT, and swear that you saw him leave the door to answer a phone call, but the person at the door claims that no one went out.5. help will come when you ask for it.6. team spirit is extremely crucial.7. all the planning in the world can go wrong if one fails to ask for God's blessings.
